Mo' FEMA info...

Currently, the amount of money being distributed through the expedited assistance program is $2,000 per household. This expedited assistance is made available by FEMA to those residents severely impacted by disasters from Mississippi and Louisiana who do not have the usual means of identifying damage to their property or unable to provide the immediate documentation necessary.

This emergency assistance is provided to help with disaster needs such as transportation, clothing, rental housing, other housing accommodations, and food, and is included in the calculation of total benefits for which victims are eligible.

Affected individuals can register online for disaster assistance at www.fema.gov or call FEMA's toll-free registration line 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) - TTY 800-462-7585.

also, American Red Cross is issuing credit cards, now, for anyone displaced. Call the local red cross, not the national number. Salvation Army is also giving aid. Unemployment is available for everyone effected, even if you were self employed. It's not much money but it will help for food, clothes, etc. for now.

Yes; my (NOLA) neighbor, Miss Dorothy, told me she received a $360 debit card from the Red Cross, two days ago. In San Antonio, if you are not in a shelter, they are taking people by appointment. (I made one!)
